"Avoid critiquing your child’s performance right after the game or on the ride home. Instead, focus on simply telling your athlete how much you enjoyed watching them play and how proud you are of their effort. When you wait to give feedback, you allow both you and your child time to cool down and reflect. If you still feel there are areas for growth, save those conversations for a day or two later. This delay lets you approach the discussion from a more thoughtful, constructive place, making it more effective and less likely to feel discouraging."
